Best Around - True Food Kitchen

I haven't done a "Best Around" in a while and I think I found something worthy when Jim and I went out on Saturday. We were out and about and decided to stop by True Food Kitchen at the Biltmore in Phoenix. It was our first time there and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Everything that they make is organic and in house. I loved how the walk-way up to it was lined with planters containing fresh potted herbs and even the plant decor throughout the restaurant was REAL! I think that is rare. In addition to seeing what you are going to be eating, all of the cooking and prep is done OUT IN THE OPEN. Like literally, they had (very posh looking) prep tables out in the open, with very clean looking cooks. I couldn't get enough of this place!

I couldn't stop thinking "this is how food is supposed to be." Lately I have had this overwhelming feeling that most of the food that I eat is horrible-and Jim and I actually try! Seriously, ever since we saw "Food Inc." (around April of last year) we have tried to buy organic and be more conscious of what we put into our bodies. It's just so hard to TRUST what we are given as consumers. I feel that it is so sad that it takes so much extra energy to eat what used to just come naturally to us 100 years ago! Our society and money driven businesses have perverted everything that nature intended for us, but True Food Kitchen is taking one step forward to provide REAL food for consumers! If I could eat here every day I would, and I bet I would feel better!
I got Teryaki Vegetables with Tofu and Brown Rice (My lunch was so green, I was trying to eat outside of the box, and it was good!)
Jim got Carne Asada Tacos that were AMAZING!..and those beans, those were the best beans I have ever had in my life!
Check it out! It marks everything on the menu that is vegan, vegetarian or gluten free (which was quite a lot!)

True Food Kitchen is a Fox restaurant concept and I have to say that I have been very impressed by most of the Fox restaurants that I have been to. For being somewhat of a chain, they do not skimp on quality. Something that I liked about TFK was the portion sizes. Jim's tacos were three small tacos, and my brown rice to vegetable ratio was exactly what it should be-more veggies, less brown rice!

Overall I give True Food Kitchen an A, if you want to check it out it's a great day-date destination. (You can check out the Apple store or Teavana afterwards too!)

Keep it real,

Roo
